En el año 2016 con motivo del 50 aniversario de la apertura al público de la Cueva de Valporquero, se han realizado diversas actividades y eventos como Muestra de Artesanos Leoneses, taller de fotografía subterránea, exposiciones de fósiles y minerales de León, una Gran Romería a la Cueva de Valporquero, etc. pero si algo fue digno de destacar es el concierto coral dado en el interior de la cueva por primera vez en la historia.
