In 1991, it had a population of 10,000, which doubled by the 2000 census to 20,123. Now Bukit Bakri population is 30,280.

峇吉里（馬來語：Bakri）是马来西亚柔佛州麻坡县的一个地区，地方民众称峇吉里路（Jalan Bakri）两侧的区域为峇吉里。这里也是麻坡市区外的一个新兴商业区，有许多住宅区、车行、及小行工业。当地人口则以华人占多。 路尾有个新村叫巴口（Bukit Bakri），距离市区大约八公里。是共产时期政府把华人集中管制而成的一个村落。现已发展成一个小镇，并有一些小型工业。还有橡胶收割等职业。根据前村长李宝平透露，“巴口”名称由来，据说是当年新村只有一条建有数十间店铺的大街，专门经营收购土产和售卖日常用品，因此形成了一个“吐纳口”，故被称为“巴口”。镇里五脏具全，有华文小学、一所玛拉学院、神庙（白鳳仙師宮、仙公山、飛来洞）、警察局、邮政局等等，还有一个华人公塚和基督公塚。除此以外，当地还有警察学院、军营等等。 巴口新村有15条街道以华人命名，其中3条是将原有的道路易名，分别为黄和烈路（原名Jalan Balai Raya）、谢丽水路（原名Jalan Ramai）和吕汶远路（原名Jalan Durian）。至于其他路名则包括了黄龙沼路、杜丕明路、吕岱锳路、何君铨路、杜德梅路、李峇才路、林子忠路、郑名仁路、吴康健路、吕尚蔗路、许牡丹路及侯来团路。这些路名是因益华村多条道路开拓时没有名字，早期在巴口村委会及当地政党组织的争取下，获批准以华裔领袖来命名。

Bakri or often Bukit Bakri (Jawi: بوكيت بكري; Chinese: 巴口) is a town in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. It is located along Federal Route in Muar district, just five kilometers east of Muar town. In 1991, it had a population of 10,000, which doubled by the 2000 census to 20,123. Now Bukit Bakri population is 30,280. Bukit Bakri are located at the end of Jalan Bakri, which the main road that connecting Bakri Town to Bandar Maharani. The name 'Bakri' believed derive from the name of Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor, which dedicated to him as the present for his birthday at that time by Dato' Muhammad Salleh Bin Prang. Many people does not know that Jalan Bakri have been the most straight road in the State of Johore at that time. This is show that the ability of local engineers at the late 19th century. There are many Muslim, Chinese, Hindu and Christian cemeteries in Bakri town including the historic Japanese war cemetery from World War II which has become the obvious landmark of the small town. The largest clan in the local Chinese population belongs to the surname "Toh" (杜) in Hokkien or "Du" in Chinese, and there is a prominent Chinese temple known as Siang Kong Shan Temple dedicated to Du Fu Da Ren.
