The settlement was initially named Saraybosna, which is the Turkish equivalent of Sarajevo, before it was renamed Yenibosna with the formation of the Republic of Turkey. There are notable Bosniak communities in İzmir, Karamürsel, Yalova, Bursa and Edirne.
