rdf:langString Altair Digital Communication is an academic space for research, production and broadcast for cultural contents based at Faculty of Communications in the University of Antioquia. It works as a virtual station where sound radio-like productions are presented in a Web 2.0 site, created by the university students themselves, who have the opportunity to acquire and develop new knowledge on information technology as well as digital radio and hypermedial content management. It was founded in April 2000, under the name of Radio Altair, Created by student Luz Dary Gil Cortés under the advice of Professor Lucia Restrepo Cuartas. It is a Net radio pioneer project in Latin America, and a very strong predecessor on the free culture. In the year 2004, Altair was awarded with the University Journalism Award in the best digital feature category due to its proposals on hypermedia field. Some of the programs that have been produced and broadcast on Altair have had recognition on the Emission Awards, which is a Faculty of Communications’ exhibit that gathers some of the student's most significant academic works.
