Adolf (1816, Adolphe) je psychologický román francouzského preromantického spisovatele Benjamina Constanta, který v něm zobrazil neúprosný rozklad citového vztahu mladého životního ztroskotance ke starší ženě. Tímto dílem jeho autor silně ovlivnil nastupující romantickou generaci. Román je částečně autobiografický, protože je založen na intimním vztahu autora k o deset let starší Madame de Staël. Vznikl již v letech 1806–1807, ale vydán byl až o mnoho let později, protože se Constant snažil o to, aby hrdinku románu s Madame de Staël nikdo nespojoval. Poté, co román vyšel (současně v Paříži a v Londýně), byla však tato paralela často zmiňována. Constant se sice snažil tuto skutečnost v tisku vehementně popírat, ale jeho protesty byly ignorovány.

While still working on it he read drafts to individual acquaintances and to small audiences, and after its first publication in London and Paris in June 1816 it went through three further editions: in July 1816 (new preface), July 1824 in Paris (restorations to Ch. 8, third preface), and in 1828. Many variants appear, mostly alterations to Constant's somewhat archaic spelling and punctuation.

L'autore finge che sia ritrovato in un albergo di Cosenza tra le carte di uno sconosciuto e dice che vuole pubblicarlo per indicare come i percorsi tragici della vita possano portare ad inaridire il cuore. Con il suo essere annoiato, distratto e triste e allo stesso tempo avido di conoscenza e di piacere e inquieto, il protagonista si offre come modello di romanticismo. Egli scava continuamente dentro di sé, analizzando senza ironia i propri sentimenti con profondità e individualismo inaspettati per il tempo, nonostante alcuni precursori quali Jacques-Henri Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, Étienne Pivert de Senancour, Madame de Staël o François-René de Chateaubriand, che però raccontano piuttosto la nascita dell'amore, mentre Constant si tiene per sé più il suo disfacimento e come tema centrale la fine dell'amore. Dal romanzo nel 1909 fu tratta l'opera per canto e pianoforte, Héllera, con libretto di Luigi Illica dalla riduzione di Ugo Solazzi, per la musica di Italo Montemezzi. Il libro è anche al centro della trama del film francese Cena tra amici (2012), in cui il nome Adolphe viene accostato ad Adolf (Hitler) in una rocambolesca serie di malintesi e spassosi colpi di scena.
