Китайський зонд Чан'е-4 здійснив першу м'яку посадку на далекій стороні Місяця 3 січня. Китай також має намір запустити Чан'е-5 у грудні, першу місію повернення зразка місячного ґрунту після станції Луна-24 у 1976 році, і випробувати нове покоління космічних апаратів з екіпажем. Чан'е-5 буде використовувати недавно розроблену важку ракету-носій Великий похід-5. Індія планує у квітні запустити відкладений місячний орбітальний апарат / посадковий апарат / місяцехід Чандраян-2.
