La 17e édition du Championnat d'Afrique des nations féminin de handball a eu lieu à Tunis (Tunisie) du 10 au 20 janvier 2006. Le tournoi réunit les meilleures équipes masculines de handball en Afrique et se déroule concomitamment avec le tournoi masculin. La compétition est remportée par l'Angola qui maintient sa suprématie sur le continent en raflant son huitième titre en dix éditions au grand dam de la Tunisie (battu en finale 32-30) et du Congo (troisième). Les trois équipes sont ainsi qualifiées pour le championnats du monde 2007.

Mistrzostwa Afryki w piłce ręcznej kobiet 2006 – siedemnaste mistrzostwa Afryki w piłce ręcznej kobiet, oficjalny międzynarodowy turniej piłki ręcznej o randze mistrzostw kontynentu organizowany przez CAHB mający na celu wyłonienie najlepszej żeńskiej reprezentacji narodowej w Afryce. Odbył się w dniach 10–20 stycznia 2006 roku w Tunezji. Spotkania zostały rozegrane w trzech halach w trzech tunezyjskich miastach. Losowanie grup odbyło się 18 grudnia 2005 roku. Z powodu wycofania się trzech zespołów, organizatorzy byli zmuszeni do zmiany systemu rozgrywek.
