The 1925 Pittsburgh Pirates finished first in the National League with a record of 95–58. They defeated the Washington Senators four games to three to win their second World Series championship. The Pirates had three future Hall of Famers in their starting lineup: Max Carey, Kiki Cuyler, and Pie Traynor. Pittsburgh defeated the Brooklyn Robins, 21–5, on June 20 and two days later won 24–6 against the St. Louis Cardinals, becoming the first team since 1901 to score 20 or more runs in consecutive games.
